Well, we’ve got some good news and some mediocre news, and then some interesting misc. Let’s dig into the latest update on all the things!
WHERE’S MY ORDER?
I’m super excited to share that at the time of this post, our oldest order is 7 days old. This means we’re caught up on Dec-Feb orders for Sam Barsky and Picture This Clothing! YAY!
Open orders (March 2-8) *should* print Monday, then get cut, sewn, and shipped later this coming week.
It has taken us a while to get caught up, and our two primary machines are still down. Still standing, my friends! Even though the ground is squishy. 😉
OH… WHEN WILL THE MACHINES BE BACK UP?
The timeline is still unknown, BUT
for the Monti: we’re basically awaiting an email response from one equipment supplier before we schedule the electrician and then the Monti-tech to come back out.
for the large format printer:
We’ve held off further progress until we’ve got the Monti up and running again.
We’re sure the print heads need to be replaced, so there’s some research on whether the best move for us is to replace the print heads, see if a tech can repair, or replace the whole dang printer.
CAN I STILL ORDER?
YES. We’ve opened ordering back up on PictureThisClothing.com with a couple of notes:
Please expect up to 30 days to ship. Of course, we will try to do better, but leaning on a third party can result in some added/unexpected steps.
We are not able to do rush orders at this time, so please plan ahead!
Our biggest ask is for patience. So far, our community (you!) has demonstrated the most amazing support and patience that I could imagine. A most sincere thank you again for that.
WHAT’S UP AT THE HOMESTEAD?
There’s been a lot of rain (and a little snow), which is great for us to experience before we’ve fully moved out there. It’s highlighting a lot of needs around the place that would be a lot more life-impacting if we were out there full-time.
Things like:
Gravel in the driveway.
Wilson and our neighbor Fred have both been stuck in the mud in different places in our driveway. Thank goodness for Fred’s 4WD.A lean-to roof that doesn’t let all of the rain through.
And something to haul heavy loads of trash to the dumpster, which is like a full acre away from the shop and house.
I’m just realizing now I don’t have a photo of it, but we found an old wheelchair in the “stuff” left behind and we’ve been using it to push heavy trash can loads down the gravel driveway to the dumpster. It’s pretty comical, but it sure helps until we get a little side-by-side or something like that.
We’ve looked at about 500 types of flooring and about a thousand couches.
I measured and cut paper to see how much couch would fit if we did one of those design-your-own sectional things.
Did I mention the flooring person vanished?
I mean, I’m sure they’re not a missing persons case. It’s just finding people/companies who will show up way out there and actually do the job has been a really interesting challenge we didn’t fully appreciate until trying to hire people.
They give an estimate, you accept, they vanish. It’s the weirdest thing.
A new person came out and took measurements on Friday and we should have an est by Monday. They said they’re backlogged until May, but if we’re good with the estimate (forthcoming), they’ll put us on the schedule. I’m hopeful!
So… maybe we get our machines up and running mid-April/early May, and we get floors in the house sometime in May/June… and MAYBE we can actually MOVE in the Summer?! I’m hopeful.
FAB FINDS
I post these on my personal Instagram page now and then, but as we’ve been going through all the things left behind (so that we can actually move in one day), we have found some really neat stuff! Here are a few examples I’m screenshotting from my FB page (so ignore the +2 and +6, those won’t go anywhere):
I think that’s about it for updates at the moment.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll catch you on the next round.
